As part of the celebration of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the painter Joaquín Torres García, the Sant Lluc per l’Art Mataró Association and the Iluro Foundation have announced that the winning work in the tenth edition of the Torres García- Ciutat de Mataró 2024 Biennial Painting Prize is Assaig S.T. Angelus Novus, by Gonzalo Elvira Pérez, an Argentine artist who has been living in Barcelona for more than twenty years. The winning work has been selected among 190 works presented, standing out for its quality and originality.
The jury included Maria Isabel Llaquet, president of the Sant Lluc per l’Art Mataró Association and vice-president of the Iluro Foundation; Juan Manuel Bonet, former director of the Valencian Institute of Modern Art, the Reina Sofía Museum and the Cervantes Institute; Emmanuel Guigon, director of the Museu Picasso in Barcelona; Julio Vaquero, artist and artistic advisor to the Sorigué Foundation; and Eva Vàzquez, graduate in Art History and cultural journalist at El Punt Avui.
The exhibition of the selected works can be visited at the Ateneu Centre Cultural de la Fundació Iluro in Mataró, until August 25.
