Dionis Escorsa (Tortosa, 1970)

An artist who works on the basis of representation and its relationship with the space in which it is shown, the light that shapes it and the viewer’s gaze, often emphasising its spectral nature. Through painting, video installation, experimental cinema and theater video-scenography, he studies how the mechanisms of staging, the language of narratives, cartographies and encryptions work. All this often from a fictional autobiographical perspective.

Throughout his career, he has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions. In this regard, his work has been exhibited in venues such as Caixaforum, Halfhouse, the Suñol Foundation, La Capilla, the CCCB, and the CASM in Barcelona; the MAMT in Tarragona; La Panera in Lleida; the MAC Niteroi in Brazil; the Gasco Foundation in Santiago, Chile; the 40mcube in Rennes; and the Casal Solleric in Palma de Mallorca, among others. As a filmmaker, he has shown his work at festivals such as Kino der Kunst in Munich, Oberhausen Kurzfilmtage, Cosi fan tutte Vienna, Hamburg KFF, Berlin KFF, the Malaga Festival, IBAFF Murcia, Xcèntric, OVNI, and Flux in Barcelona. He has worked as a video set designer in theaters such as the Mercado de las Flores, the Sala Beckett, and the Teatro Libre in Barcelona; the Cesc Pompeya in Sao Paulo; the Nuovo Teatro Nuovo in Naples; and the Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York.

His projects as a video set designer have been developed in theaters such as the Mercat de les Flors, the Sala Beckett, and the Teatre Lliure in Barcelona; as well as the Sesc Pompéia in Sao Paulo; the Nuovo Teatro Nuovo in Naples; and the Baryshnikov Arts Center in New York.

As a filmmaker, his works have been screened at festivals such as Kino der Kunst in Munich, Oberhausen Kurzfilmtage, Cosi fan tutte Vienna, Hamburg KFF, Berlin KFF, Malaga Festival, IBAFF Murcia, Xcèntric, OVNI, and Flux in Barcelona.

His work is part of collections such as: Contemporary Art Collection of the Generalitat de Catalunya; Caixaforum Foundation, Barcelona; Josep Suñol Collection, Suñol Foundation, Barcelona; La Panera Art Center, Lleida; Samlung Würth, La Rioja.
