The Breathing Lake by Dionis Escorsa at Loop Fair
RocioSantaCruz gallery presents Dionis Escorsa‘s work The Breathing Lake, in collaboration with Albert Merino, at Loop Fair.
A video mapping projection is displayed on a painting depicting the famous semi-submerged bell tower of the Sau reservoir, using real-time data provided by a weather website adjusted to the coordinates of the location so that the painting subtly changes its atmosphere throughout the day. This also provides a real-time (pictorial) measurement of the region water reserves, based on data from the Hydrographic Confederation.
La instalación ofrece también la posibilidad de contemplar los cambios atmosféricos de modo acelerado. Así, la oscilación del nivel del agua produce una impresión de latido o respiración del paisaje que realza el abandono metafísico de la ruina religiosa.
The breathing lake consists of four large video-mapped paintings showing the Sau reservoir from the four cardinal points, together producing an immersive sensation. One of them is presented at Loop Fair, while the other three can be seen simultaneously at the RocioSantaCruz gallery, as part of the The Cosmic Bell and the Breathing Lake.
The piece can be visited until November 20th, in room 103 of the Almanac Hotel (Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes 619–621, Barcelona).
