Gloria Oyarzabal

BIO

Graduated in Fine Arts, she diversifies her professional activity between cinema, photography and teaching. She is a programmer and co-founder of the Independent Cinema Hall “La Enana Marron” in Madrid (1999-2009), dedicated to the dissemination of author, experimental and alternative cinema.
She lives 3 years in Bamako, Mali (2009-12) developing her interest in the construction of the African imaginary, the processes of colonization / decolonization, new tactics of colonialism and the various African voices around feminisms.

In 2017, she carried out the artistic residence Ranchito Matadero Nigeria / South Africa between Madrid and Art House Foundation Lagos (Nigeria) that allows her to develop her research on the colonization of the concept of women.
In 2020 she is invited as artist-in-residence at Gibellina Photoroad (Sicily, Italy)

Since 1996, she has been working as art director and still photographer for experimental short films and author documentaries.

Master in Creation and Development of Photographic Projects in Blankpaper ( Madrid 2014-15)Diploma in Restoration and Conservation of Works of Art (1993).
Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Complutense University of Madrid (1998).
Professor of Shape Analysis at IADE (2001-2010).
