Guillem Coma
BIO
Guillem Coma develops an artistic practice rooted in gesture and spontaneity, through which he explores, in an intense and recurring manner, the materiality of the body.
Using the ballpoint pen as his primary tool, he creates compositions of great visual density in which different rhythms, volumes, and graphic registers coexist. In his work, the morphology of the body appears as an inescapable reality, closely connected to the space it occupies and to its physical presence on the surface of the earth, to paraphrase the literary critic Xavier Pla.
The human figure, repeatedly revisited and subjected to a process of gestural abstraction, forms one of the main threads running through his work. Bodies appear blurred, fragmented, or barely suggested among overlapping and intertwining lines, giving rise to forms, textures, and volumes in constant transformation. From this tension between figuration and abstraction emerges a sense of movement and fluidity that lends his works depth, intensity, and a distinctive sensory dimension.
