Palmira Puig and Marcel Giró at the 2026 São Paulo International Book Biennial

The Ministry of Culture and Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) have presented the official programme for Spain’s participation as Guest of Honour at the 28th São Paulo International Book Biennial, which will take place from 4 to 13 September 2026 under the theme Confluences. The initiative will bring together a broad representation of Spanish literary and artistic creation, with the aim of strengthening cultural dialogue between Spain and Brazil.

The programme will include the participation of fifty authors, literary events, professional activities, and an extensive multidisciplinary cultural programme. Among the highlights is an exhibition dedicated to Palmira Puig and Marcel Giró, which will open at the Instituto Cervantes in São Paulo and showcase the careers of both photographers, as well as their contribution to the renewal of twentieth-century photographic language. The exhibition will form part of the cultural activities accompanying Spain’s presence at one of Ibero-America’s leading publishing events.
