Palmira Puig, Marcel Giró and Germán Lorca at Arles: Les Rencontres de la Photographie 2025

Palmira Puig, Marcel Giró and Germán Lorca, three of the artists represented by RocioSantaCruz gallery, are part of the exhibition Construction Deconstruction Reconstruction. Brazilian modernist photography (1939 – 1964), curated by Helouise Costa and Marcella Legrand, which is presented at LUMA Arles as part of the prestigious Arles: Les Rencontres de la Photographie 2025 festival.

The exhibition project brings together works by 33 photographers from different backgrounds and offers a new perspective on photographic modernism in Brazil, through a look at the Foto Cine Clube Bandeirante (FCCB), a collective founded in São Paulo in 1939 that has established itself as a key element in the history of Brazilian photography.a.

The RocioSantaCruz gallery has maintained a firm commitment to the recovery, conservation and dissemination of photographic legacies of great historical value. This work has been translated into a continuous work of research and enhancement of authors such as Palmira Puig, Marcel Giró and Germán Lorca, thanks to the collaboration in this case with the Marcel Giró and Palmira Puig Archive, preserved with dedication by Toni Ricart Giró, and the Germán Lorca Archive.

The inclusion of these three artists in the Arles: Les Rencontres de la Photographie 2025 festival reinforces the gallery’s commitment to this work and underscores the fundamental role of the photographers’ work and its international reach.
