ParisPhoto 2025

13.11.2025 - 16.11.2025 / Stand C13

One of RocioSantaCruz’s main areas of work is the dissemination of historical photographic archives and contemporary authors. In this edition of Paris Photo, the gallery presents a careful selection of works organized into different sections.

The first is the rediscovery of two great Spanish photographers: Antoni Campañà, who transcended pictorialism in the 1930s to become a leading figure in experimental photography, and Virxilio Viéitez, a master of humanist portraiture during the Spanish postwar period, a Galician artist who was particularly admired by Cartier Bresson, among others.

The second section focuses on the Foto Cine Clube Bandeirante, a landmark in avant-garde photography in Brazil and one of the main protagonists of the 2025 Arles Festival. It brings together works by Marcel Giró, Palmira Puig, German Lorca, Barbara Mors y Eduardo Salvatore.

Gender is also a key theme in RocioSantaCruz’s project. In this edition, she focuses on the work of female photographers Colita and Pilar Aymerich, who challenged the norms of the Franco era and pushed the boundaries of visual representation.

Led by Ouka Leele, Javier Inés, and Miguel Trillo, the exhibition delves into “la movida,” a social, cultural, and recreational phenomenon that developed between Madrid and Barcelona from 1977 to 1984, coinciding with Spain’s transition to democracy.

And finally, an act of radical contemporaneity in the form of a dialogue between Lúa Ribeira, a young Spanish photographer from the Magnum Agency, and Toni Amengual from Mallorca, who are united by their use of observation of the environment as a tool for social criticism.
